KHON2 Continues To Be Hawaii's Choice For News And Entertainment In May 2011 Sweeps

Nielsen numbers for the May 2011 television ratings period were released today. KHON2’s veteran anchorman Joe Moore and the entire team continues to be the undisputed news leader with Hawaii’s television viewers who chose KHON2 as the station they prefer for all their news, information and primetime entertainment. KHON2 is once again the most-watched TV station in the state from sign-on to sign-off.

Hawaii viewers have responded and they are watching KHON2 - Hawaii’s News Leader in record numbers due to the great storytelling and unique delivery of our anchors, that is unmatched by anyone in the state . I thank our staff and most of all our loyal viewers for supporting us everyday!

The KHON2 News at Five with Ron Mizutani and Justin Cruz claims the number one position with a 7 rating, reaching 46,000 viewers nightly – three thousand more than its closest competitor.

The KHON2 News Hawaii at Six with Joe Moore, Kanoa Leahey and Justin Cruz made significant gains and continues to dominate the local news landscape with a 14 rating representing 96,000 nightly viewers - that’s 41,000 more viewers than its closest competitor!

The KHON2 News Hawaii at Ten with Joe Moore, Kanoa Leahey and Justin Cruz maintains its number one position with a 10 rating representing 66,000 viewers.

The KHON2 Weekend News with Marisa Yamane, Rob DeMello and Kathy Muneno wins the weekend news platform in all time periods with an average 9 rating, representing 60,000 viewers – 20,000 more than its closest competitor.

During this ratings period KHON2 News was able to bring our viewers exclusive stories from Japan. Our award-winning team of Ron Mizutani and Greg Lau went to areas affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami, and showed us how residents are coping.

And the KHON2 News World Report with Joe Moore provided the most-up-to-minute information and comprehensive coverage on the death of Osama Bin Laden.

Wheel of Fortune amazingly showed signs of increase in viewers and continues to dominate the lead-in to network primetime with a 14 rating, representing 100,000 loyal viewers! – that’s 75,000 more viewers than its closest competitor and 47,000 more than the other three stations combined!

This season’s AMERICAN IDOL with the new judging panel boasted nearly 200,000 Hawaii viewers in the two-day season finale episode.

KHON2 produced and aired the HMSA Teen Video Awards on Wednesday, March 25th, hosted by KHON2 sports anchor Rob DeMello and produced by writer/producer Ted Obringer.This program beat all other network primetime shows on that night in the same time period.
